Manage your privacy and identity on Youtube

Connecting with the people you know is easy on YouTube.

Facebook and Twitter

First, set up your connections in Account Settings. Here you can connect your Facebook and Twitter accounts. You can also choose which actions will be posted on these social networks.
When connecting, be sure to review the various permissions you are granting to the application.
You can always come back to this menu to adjust these settings.

Connect with Google+

If your account is connected with Google+, you can share videos and comments with those in your circles. Once you’ve merged a YouTube Channel with your Google account,
If you want to change your name, avatar, or Channel title, you can edit your linked Google+ profile or edit your linked Google+ page. Once you make changes in Google+, the changes will appear on YouTube (though it may take a little while).
Please check out the Google Identity privacy page for more tips about managing your Google profile.
Now that you’re connected, the Social view in your Guide shows what your social network-connected friends are viewing and sharing.

Managing your privacy

Now that you're connected, let's make sure you're only sharing what you want to share on YouTube.

Videos and playlists you've liked

Controls for managing the privacy of your liked content can be found in the Account Settings > Privacy menu

Comments you make

By default, your comment will be public on YouTube and Google+. You can also have a more private discussion by sharing your comment just to specific people or Google+ circles. Click Edit to enter the people and circles you want. On mobile apps, tap the field that shows the visibility of your post.

Playlist you create

You can set the privacy setting of each different playlist you create so you are able to keep some private while sharing others with people you know. When creating a playlist you will see the option to have it Public, Private or Unlisted
You can find more about each setting in our Playlist privacy article.

Videos you've uploaded

If you’ve uploaded a video, you can also adjust the privacy settings on each video.
  1. Visit your Video Manager.
  2. Find the video you’d like to change, then click the Edit button.
  3. In the “Privacy Settings” drop-down menu, select Public, Unlisted, or Private.
